Portrait Photography

Garfdale Photography are based in North Yorkshire, near Ripon in the Yorkshire Dales which provides a fantastic location for outdoor portrait photography, weather permitting, or we are able to use our small and friendly studio which overlooks the Dales. We also use a local hall or local pub to set up our studio, which gives us much more freedom and space - and both have the advantage of pub hospitality on site. Our prices are very reasonable, including at least one large, A4 size, print and further photos can be purchased directly from our web site in your personal photo area.

We aim to help you relax for your portrait session, encouraging you to be as natural as you can be.

We can arrange for individual or a small group, (up to 4 people),  in our studio; or larger groups booked in advance in local facilities, and we use a range of backgrounds. We gently work with you to produce the most natural looking photographs we can.

Outside it can be more relaxed still - we can use the garden, or for even more interesting shots, why not try a portrait taken on a country lane, or among some trees, or using the stone walls as background. We are happy to suggest different ideas and have examples on the web site. For advice on what to wear, what to bring and what to expect please contact us. It can seem quite a daunting experience, but most people genuinely find it fun.

We charge a minimal sitting fee for the photographers time, usually no more than 2 hours, but then it's up to you how many prints you want and what size. We will upload the session to our web site in an album especially for you, protected by a password. From there you can view all the photographs taken and order your prints. We can also supply canvas wrap prints of your favourite shot, at more than reasonable prices.

We are now offering a range of Jorgensen albums, the most popular for portraits being the Folio album which can have as many pages as you require. Choose the material and colour of the cover, the photographs you'd like including in the album and we will design an album for you to approve. One you are happy with the design, we order the album, mats and prints and in around 4 weeks present you with your beautiful, personal portrait session album.
